The word Mosque (Arabic:المسجد Masjid) or house of God appears frequently in the Quran and literally means a place of prostration. It is a place of assembly where Muslims are called five times a day during time of prayers. A mosque contains a symbolic and functional feature. It is recognized as a unique symbol of Islam and serves as an institution in which the focal points of religious and social activities are combined. Unlike other places of worship, where all kinds of adornment and ornamentation along with statues of saints and God incarnates abound, a Mosque is simply made up of four walls roof and a floor where a worshipper prostrates to his Lord.
